Here lies Sigfreid Rat. He lived a short but full life. Ate dog food, septic tank cleaner, alfalfa meal, bone meal, and many other delights most rats only dream of. His dying wish was, well we didn't quite understand what he said, but I'm sure it was along the lines of "I only regret I have but one life to lose."
Breathes there the rat with soul so dead
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne’er within him burned,
As home his footsteps he hath turned
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonored , and unsung.
So, we bid adieu to this brave little thief. May the Lord bless him and keep his kind far, far away from us.
On a lighter note, I posted a short video on what's blooming in this neck of the woods!
